Our Take

Our newest brand partner, Felipe Pikullik, is a rising,  young watchmaker in the independent game. We’ve been a fan of his creations for a while, so it’s our pleasure to present one of the German watchmaker’s more recent timepieces – the Sternenhimmel.

The Sternenhimmel balances austere minimalism with beautiful materials, textures, and colors across the dial and movement. Collectors notice the dark blue aventurine glass dial with micro-particles layered beneath the surface. Connected to this timepiece’s name (Sternenhimmel is “starry sky” in German), the dial is uncluttered with three small diamonds as hour markers and the watchmaker’s name plate at 12 o’clock. Gorgeously finished dauphine-style hour and minute hands complete the aesthetic, leaving collectors with plenty to admire. On this version of the Sternenhimmel, diamonds are also set into the lugs of the case.

The timepiece’s movement, the hand skeletonized ZBH1 caliber, is striking with an attention to detail for finishing that is tough to match at these prices. The movement is crafted out of the ETA 6497-1, a pocket watch movement, that has been modified and transformed into a creation of Felipe’s vision. The bridges are treated with dark rhodium plating, creating a wonderful juxtaposition between the frosted surfaces and mirror polished anglage. Case diameter and height of 41mm by 10.5mm, it’s a comfortable mid-sized timepiece for wrists, small and large. Both dial and movement combined, it’s safe to say that the Sternenhimmel punches well above its weight class.
