Inside the Debut of Mathieu Cleguer: The Inspiration One and Its Innate Escapement
Independent watchmaking has grown so much in the last decade. What was a niche occupied by ten or twenty players has exploded into a thriving market, global in scope. Ultra-talented watchmakers are leaving their positions in the world’s most exclusive brands to venture on their own. One such case is Mathieu Cleguer, the French-born, Geneva-based movement engineer. Last month, he launched his first timepiece – the Inspiration One. It’s a serious first swing for Cleguer.
The Details That Define the REXHEP REXHEPI Chronograph Flyback (RRCHF)
We were able to visit the REXHEP REXHEPI Atelier in Old Town Geneva to see the all-new Chronograph Flyback (abbreviated as, RRCHF). We photographed the watch, spent a few hours examining its fine details, and spoke at length with the master watchmaker about his latest creation. It’s a stunning timepiece – photographs extremely well, yet remains even more impressive in the metal. As with any watch of this standard, the high-level outline only tells a small part of the story. Here, we’ll start with the timepiece’s specifications and functions, then move deeper into the details that truly define the REXHEP REXHEPI Chronograph Flyback.
At the Heart of the Craft: Émailleurs de la Cité. Inside Rexhep Rexhepi’s Enamel Workshop
While we were in Geneva a couple of months ago, we had the pleasure of visiting Rexhep Rexhepi at his Akrivia Atelier in the heart of Geneva’s Old Town. Early one morning, we met with Rexhep to discuss the decision to launch an enamel workshop, labeled Émailleurs de la Cité (Enamelers of the City), and he walked us through a tour of the brand’s latest foray into watchmaking handicrafts.
