Those familiar with EsperLuxe know, we love Akrivia. The watch industry’s wunderkind, Rexhep Rexhepi launched Akrivia in 2012 and we’ve been lucky enough to be a part of the brand’s journey, offering more than a handful of their timepieces over the years. This is a first for us though, the AK-04 Tourbillon Regulateur, and we’re thrilled to have been able to help this land on a dear collector’s wrist.

Looking back from 2021 now, the AK-04 follows Rexhep’s playbook for success to a tee. Since the launch of the AK-01, the brand has consistently found a way to imbue modern designs with high complications and fine finishing straight out of the glory days of traditional watchmaking. Where most independents lean heavily into one direction or the other, very modern or very traditional, Rexhep has always stood in an aesthetic middle ground, both somehow classic and cutting edge.

In the evolution of AkriviA, this AK-04 was the first watch that gathered more popular attention, at least much more than the brand’s previous three releases. This was the watch that caused widespread “a-ha moments” for collectors and enthusiasts in the watch community. Ultimately, it’s for that very reason we love AK-04. This timepiece is a testament to the artistic courage and persistence needed to introduce a new design language, to work between the past and the future.
