We recently had the pleasure of acquiring and selling one of Urwerk’s iconic watches, the legendary 202s Full Metal Jacket. Also nicknamed the Hammerhead, the 202s in true Urwerk fashion is avant-garde futuristic horological art and the brainchild of the mad geniuses Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei.
Featuring revolving telescopic hours, a moon phase indicator, day/night indicator, and twin-turbine airflow system, the UR-202s Hammerhead full metal jacket is a beast of a watch!
The twin turbines – miniature air compressors – can be seen spinning on the back of the watch and are coupled with the winding rotor. They act as shock absorbers and are controlled by a 3-position selector switch on the water resistant case-back.
What would an Urwerk be without some sort of revolving sci-fi inspired satellite time display. In the case of the 202s, youโll find a patented Revolving Satellite Complication displaying time using telescoping minutes hands that retract and extend following the layout of time on the dial.
The carousel and its various components are machined to an insane 1/1000mm tolerance. The rotating hub carrying the carousel is so complex we wonโt go into it in detail however youโll find all the details from Urwerk below at “From the Source.”
Lastly through a close collaboration with renowned bracelet maker Maspoli SA, the UR 202s sports a full metal bracelet hence earning its Full Metal Jacket nickname.
Itโs out of this world, itโs badass, it must be Urwerk. Limited to 50 pieces and all sold out.
