We love how Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, Urwerk co-founders, leverage their extraordinary partnership to create extraordinary timepieces. And weโre lucky to have been able to handle many of the duoโs creations over the years. Some of them include a recent slew of UR-105 timepieces including the TTH Tantalum, the โBronze Maverick,โ and this exceptional UR-105 CT Black.
Released at SIHH 2018, thereโs something spectacular about a PVDโd Urwerk timepiece. It brings the whole futuristic aesthetic to another level with its blacked-out, matte surfaces. Add on the brandโs trademark satellite hour time indicator with Super-LumiNovaยฎ and all the things collectors love about the brand fall perfectly into place.
The UR-105 CT with PVD case wears extremely comfortably for a timepiece with heft (39.5mm width x 53mm length x 17.8mm height). And it bears one of Urwerkโs emblems, caliber UR 5.03โs convertible winding system. Powered by two turbines to regulate the movementโs automatic winding system, a lever on the caseback allows you to deactivate the automatic rotors, converting the timepiece into a manual wind watch.
Overall, this is a hell of a timepiece in the UR-105 series. Like all of its siblings, this timepiece showcases the creativity and mechanical prowess of two of the living legends in independent watchmaking.
