We love how Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei, Urwerk co-founders, leverage their extraordinary partnership to create extraordinary timepieces. And weโre lucky to have been able to handle many of the duoโs creations over the years. Some of them include a recent slew of UR-105 timepieces including the TTH Tantalum, 105 CT โBlack,โ and this exceptional UR-105 Bronze โMaverick.โ
Released at SIHH 2019, this timepiece is a variation to the UR-105 series throughout its 7-year production run. As a rarely used material for the brand, the color of Urwerkโs bronze differs slightly from most of the market. Typically much more yellow, Urwerkโs bronze case is much more rich and dark. Owners of this timepiece will benefit from the slow evolution of the watchโs patina, an outcome that will depend on the wearerโs lifestyle and conditions of the climate.
Limited to only 22 pieces, the UR-105 CT โMaverickโ wears extremely comfortably for a timepiece with heft (39.5mm width x 53mm length x 17.8mm height). And it bears one of Urwerkโs emblems, caliber UR 5.03โs convertible winding system. Powered by two turbines to regulate the movementโs automatic winding system, a lever on the caseback allows you to deactivate the automatic rotors, converting the timepiece into a manual wind watch.
Overall, this is a hell of a timepiece in the UR-105 series. Like all of its siblings, this timepiece showcases the creativity and mechanical prowess of two of the living legends in independent watchmaking.
