The UR-101 Diamond Sky revisits one of URWERK’s foundational concepts, reinterpreted through a fusion of mechanical innovation and high jewelry. Produced in a limited run of 25 pieces, it builds on the original UR-101 while pushing its signature wandering hours display into more expressive territory.
The watch retains the defining traits of early URWERK creations: a satellite hour display moving across a 180-degree arc, a crown at 12 o’clock, and a layout that departs from traditional dial design. Here, those elements are elevated by an approach that treats light as an essential part of the experience.
Its 41mm steel case is engraved with a geometric pattern resembling an abstract star map, set with 214 diamonds in a precise hexagonal network. These stones are not merely decorative, but act as fixed points, like stars, against which time progresses. As the watch moves, light reflects and shifts across the surface, creating a dynamic contrast between the static brilliance of the diamonds and the motion of the display.
Powering the watch is the self-winding calibre UR-1.01V, offering a 48-hour power reserve and operating at 4 Hz. Despite the visual complexity, legibility remains clear, aided by luminous markers on the wandering hours display.
More than a gem-set variation, the Diamond Sky represents a rare intersection for URWERK, where horology and jewelry meet without compromise. It is not a nostalgic revival, but another example of the brand’s pursuit of communicating how time, space, and light are all interconnected.
