Launched on May 4th of 2020, (“May the fourth be with you”), the “C-3PO” utilizes Urwerk’s signature complication – the wandering-hours satellite indicator of time. But as one notices, the red hand on the satellite time indicator pokes through 10 and 2 o’clock to reveal time’s most intimate companion: distance. At both locations on the dial, this timepiece’s owner can see the distance the earth has traveled on its rotation (555km) and the distance the earth has revolved around the sun (35,740km). For the thinking human, this is a decidedly philosophical watch to reflect on our position in the cosmos.

The UR-100 is Urwerk’s slimmest offering coming in at 14mm in thickness and 41mm wide. From an aesthetics point of view, the case is a bit more angular than the brand’s typical look. But the C-3PO pays subtle homage to Urwerk’s first timepiece, the UR-101. With similar overall wearability, shape, and Star Wars nod (the UR-101 was described as Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon spaceship), this timepiece is bound to become another classic in Urwerk’s work at the cutting edge of horology.
