MB&F Legacy Machine Sequential EVO “Strawberry”

$215,000

The first chronograph in MB&F’s catalog, the MB&F Legacy Machine Sequential EVO redefines what a modern chronograph can be. Developed in collaboration with master watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, the Sequential EVO won the “Best in Show” at the GPHG Awards in 2022. The timepiece features two fully independent chronographs operating within a single movement, capable of timing separate events, split intervals, cumulative timing, laps, or functioning as a traditional chronograph. Central to the movement is the revolutionary “Twinverter” mechanism, a fifth pusher at 9 o’clock that can simultaneously start, stop, or alternate between both chronographs with a single press.

This is not your typical chronograph, and this model is not your typical colorway for the Sequential EVO. Technically, the standard edition’s dial is “atomic orange,” but this much more strawberry colored hue was actually a manufacturing mishap. Only a handful of faulty “strawberry” dials were made and the initial buyers all opted to keep these examples when offered service sway back to orange.

In terms of overall design, the openworked dial showcases mirrored chronograph displays alongside the signature flying balance wheel suspended above the movement. Beneath, the hand-wound caliber is composed of 585 components and 59 jewels, finished to the exceptional standards expected of the Legacy Machine collection. Galvanic-treated darkened bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève, mirror polishing, extensive hand-finished anglage, and gold chatons, while McDonnell’s engraved signature highlights the collaborative nature of the movement. A double barrel system delivers an impressive 72-hour power reserve.

As part of the EVO collection, the Sequential EVO blends haute horlogerie with genuine everyday usability. The lightweight 44mm zirconium case features 80 meters of water resistance, enhanced shock protection, and an integrated rubber strap with titanium folding buckle, an unusually robust package for such an ultra-complicated timepiece. Rare, technically groundbreaking, and remarkably wearable, the Sequential EVO stands among the most innovative chronographs in modern independent watchmaking.
