De Bethune DB28 XP

$90,000

De Bethune launched the DB28 in 2010. The first watch with the brand’s patented articulated lugs, the DB28 solidified the design language of De Bethune and still remains the “look” that collectors love today. With no timepiece more important to De Bethune’s history since its launch, De Bethune released DB28 XP to commemorate the 10th anniversary of this icon of modern independent watchmaking in 2021. This anniversary edition comes in three variations: the Starry Sky, the Tourbillon, and this mirror-polished-all-over version. After handling both other versions – the Starry Sky and the Tourbillon – we’re thrilled to be able to offer this timepiece to continue the celebration of De Bethune’s craftsmanship and history.

So what’s new on the anniversary DB28 XP? The most notable difference is its overall slimness. Though the original DB28 was not thick at ~11mm, the DB28 XP trims the height of the timepiece down to a mere 7.2mm. After all, the XP in the model name stands for “extra plat” – “extra flat” in English. This might seem like a minor detail, but it completely changes the profile and wearability of the timepiece, especially for smaller wrists. Without doubt, this is the most compact, sleek iteration of any DB28 created thus far.

This updated interpretation of the DB28 ties together all the best facets of the timepiece’s history. With abundant mirror polish finishing all over, ultra comfortable articulated lugs, and open-worked regulator, the dial also bears the iconic De Bethune delta bridge, conjuring the space-age image of the Starfleet Commando emblem in Star Trek. This is truly the timepiece for collectors and enthusiasts who love the DB28 and its history.
