De Bethune DB25xs Starry Varius Titanium

$80,000

Earlier this year, De Bethune released its first one of its thinnest DB25’s to-date – the DB25V Monopusher Chronograph. A spectacular timepiece that exemplifies De Bethune’s trend toward slimmer, smaller timepieces without sacrificing chronometric performance. Now for Geneva Watch Days 2025, the brand returns to the DB25 with a duo of new “xs” DB25 Starry Varius’s – one in rose gold and another in titanium.

In the perpetual quest for comfort on the wrist, De Bethune’s classic collection originally launched with a 44mm case before being revamped in 2018 with a more slender 42mm case. Now, the brand further pushes the limits of available space in the timepiece by dropping the DB25xs to 40mm in diameter. It may seem easy on the surface, but such a significant reduction in case size impacts not only the timekeeping, but further requires a complete rethinking of the aesthetic balance across case, lugs, dial, and movement.

Beyond the exceptional, slim profile of the DB25xs Starry Varius case, this timepiece features a new finish for the brand’s signature starry sky motif on the dial. A warm, intense tone, the purple-ish red is used to depict the nocturnal spectacle of a volcanic eruption. Artisans in the L’Auberson workshops combine exceptional expertise and extremely meticulous care in hand-decorating the mirror-polished titanium dials. Their dexterity enables them to set each white gold pin in varyingly sized micro-perforations, bringing to life a poetic depiction of the starry sky. Using laser-beam micro-milling, a Milky Way motif is revealed by applying 24-carat gold leaf. As with their other “starry” timepieces, the DB25xs Starry Varius can have its sky personalized according to a specific geographical location and date.

On the other side, this timepiece features the DB2005 hand-wound caliber, featuring an array of De Bethune’s latest technologies. Equipped with a balance-spring with flat terminal curve, a silicon escapement and shock-absorbing system, this timepiece also features De Bethune’s latest titanium and white gold balance wheel. All patents of the house exist to live in the contemporary spirit of the times – these watches withstand magnetic fields, shocks, and accelerations without compromising on timekeeping precision or reliability.
