Armin Storm Tribute 1 Sandstein

From the Orbit to the Mirror Force Resonance, Biel-based Armin Strom has created some of the industry’s most technically interesting and innovative timepieces. It’s not only the highest levels of complicated watchmaking where Armin Strom stands out though. To kickstart Geneva Watch Days 2025, the brand presents its latest edition of its time-only wristwatch – the Tribute 1 Sandstein.

The Tribute 1 Sandstein from Armin Strom subscribes to the classical dress watch size at 38mm and simplicity of time-only, but with the brand’s distinct, modern design sensibilities. This edition of the Tribute 1 honors Armin Strom’s hometown of Burgdorf in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. The native Burgdorf sandstone – long a symbol of strength, timelessness and a defining element of the region’s architecture – now inspires this refined, stone-toned dial, adorned with grain d’orge guilloché pattern and Roman numerals. 

Pulling from their Swiss-German origins, the balance between the understated stone-colored dial and the exposed barrel and barrel bridge create a timepiece with a more industrially-designed aesthetic. The combination of the off-center dial, matte and glossy textures, guillochage alongside the shine of hand-finished barrel and bridge, all make the watch feel more exciting than a traditional, dressy three-hander.

Turning the timepiece over, the Tribute 1 Sandstein features caliber AMW21 – a manual-wind movement with an impressive 100-hour power reserve. Crafted out of 135 components, the movement is well finished with striping on the mainplate, beveling, polished screws and countersinks. Limited to 50 pieces in stainless steel, this is a timepiece that strikes a rare balance between classical dimensions and modern aesthetics.
