Angelus watches proudly sponsors the Fuel Run 2016 super car rally. With over 80 super and hyper cars and 350 scenic miles of California Coast, the Fuel Run 2016 was quite the spectacle as it roared its way through coastal California on route to Monterey.
As the fog cleared and the sun came out early on August 17, the cars lined up to be viewed by enthusiasts and drivers alike outside the iconic Gladstones Restaurant at on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The Angelus S63 AMG Mercedes lined up along with other supercars including the Lamborghini Huracan, Lamborghini Aventador, Koenigsegg One and Koenigsegg Agera, Porsche GT3 RS, Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, McLaren 650s, Audi R8, Aston Martin Vantage, Bentley Continental GT, and Mercedes-Benz SLS, among other supercars.
The rally launched to great fanfare with a police escort onto PCH, through Malibu Canyon and onto the 101 Freeway, where some drivers really let their cars show what they were made of.
As the teams headed north towards Monterey the sounds of the super and hyper cars caught everyone’s attention. Driving through incredible scenery in the valleys of central California’s farmland, the drivers headed to the coast again for a quick lunch in Morro Bay. They then took the scenic coast road to the 101 Highway to Carmel and onto Ocean Drive, where people lined the streets and heightened their all senses with the smell of the exhaust, the sounds of the engines, and an eyeful of all the cars decorated with the most colorful wraps.
The Angelus team proudly sported both the Angelus U30 Tourbillon Rattrapante and the U40 Racing Tourbillon Skeleton, both racing inspired watches. Drivers and passionate car fans loved the styling and function of both watches, especially the grade 5 titanium used for the cases.
After lying dormant for 30 years, Angelus has now been revived by new management, which has spent three years developing the next generation of visionary timepieces. The first of these, the U10 Tourbillon Lumière was launched in 2015, followed in 2016 by the U20 Ultra Light Tourbillon and U30 Tourbillon Rattrapante. All models have been developed at the Angelus manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, just a stone’s throw from where the Stolz brothers established their original factory.
